We know you have a lot of questions about your new home. We have answers! These are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we hear, but we can help you with all your questions about selecting your home, customization, financing, prepping your lot and more on your journey to home ownership. Basically, a manufactured home is built inside a facility according to HUD code. It is then transported to your home site and installed, generally on piers. Manufactured homes can also be installed on slabs, crawl spaces and basements.

A modular home is built inside a facility in modules, or sections, which are then transported to your site and assembled. Modular homes are built to meet state and local building codes instead of HUD codes and are generally installed on a slab, crawl space or basement.

Because all construction is completed at the factory, including electrical and plumbing, the turn-around time for a manufactured home is much faster than for a site-built home. There are many factors that go into the timeline include securing and preparing your lot, selecting and customizing your home, financing approval, building and installing your home, and the finish work. We have seen the process go as quickly as six weeks(!), but a more realistic schedule is about three to four months.

Generally, yes. Manufactured homes are cost-effective because they are built in a factory in a controlled environment which is not subject to weather delays. Materials are purchased in large quantities resulting in savings which are passed on to you.

Yes. Manufactured homes are constructed to HUD standards and modular homes are constructed to meet state and local building codes. They are durable and constructed to withstand severe weather. HUD even has Wind Zone Rules which define the wind patterns where you live and the homes are built to withstand those winds.
